[Related Information]
PC Access
versions 4.10,
4.20, and
4.30 require the Windows
TCP/IP driver.
If Windows did not install a
TCP/IP Winsock driver,
PC Access will install its dummy Winsock
drivers (WINSOCK.DLL and MSOCKLIB.DLL)
to your PC Access
executable directory. This allows PC Access to run on a computer that has no real Winsock
drivers installed.
After you install PC Access, another software application on your
computer may install real Winsock
drivers to your WINDOWS directory.
For example, the other software application may install the
Winsock
drivers so it can access the Internet. If this happens after PC Access
installed its dummy Winsock
driver to your PC Access
executable directory, you may see the following error:
PC Access is using a dummy WINSOCK driver
- Note:
- Windows 95, 98, and NT do not automatically
install the
TCP/IP
TCP/IP Winsock
driver when Windows installs its
Dial-up Networking or
other Networking features.
- Windows 3.1x does not include a
TCP/IP Winsock driver.
You can obtain a
TCP/IP Winsock
driver from a shareware site, such as
Tucows.
