PC Access may display the following error message:
Listing Data File
MAIL.TXT is missing
in the E-mail Message window when you attempt to e-mail a listing from your Maestro
or Compass MLS system.
To correct this error, see: Correcting the MAIL.TXT Error.
There are several possible causes and solutions to the MAIL.TXT error.
Try each one of the solutions below in the order which they appear.
Download an Update to PC Access
If you are using PC Access 4.30.147, you need to update your version of PC Access
to the current version to correct the MAIL.TXT error.
MFM corrected a problem in the Phonebook/MLS Setup window that caused PC Access to
store e-mail messages in the Public Download Directory instead of the Agent Home
Directory. MFM corrected this problem in Build 150 and carried the fix into future Builds.
After you download and apply the update:
- From the PC Access for Windows Main Menu, click
Setup Menu | Advanced | MLS Setup.
- From the MLS Setup | General tab, look in the Settings
check box group.
- Make sure Use Public Download Directory is unchecked.
- Click OK and close Advanced Setup Menu window.
- Connect to your MLS and try to e-mail a listing using PC Access.
If you continue to receive the MAIL.TXT error, see: Maestro MLS Profile.
If your MLS is a Compass System, complete the
PC Access for Windows Problem Report Form and MFM Technical Support will assist
you.
If your MLS is a Maestro System, you may have your Print to Printer or File?
option incorrectly set.
- Log into your Maestro MLS System.
- From the Maestro Main Menu, select
Your Computer Setup | User-Custom Profile.
- Note: Your Maestro MLS may not use the User-Custom-Profile
on the Main Menu. The User-Custom-Profile name varies
from MLS to MLS. Choose the option that contains your Custom Profile settings.
- If your Print to Printer or File? option is set to F
change it to P
or a blank field.
- Try to e-mail a listing using PC Access. If you continue to receive the
MAIL.TXT error, you may be pressing CTRL + C while Maestro
displays the 1-line browse screen.
If you corrected your User-Custom Profile setting and you cannot
e-mail listings, see: Maestro CTRL + C.
If your MLS is a Maestro System, you may be pressing CTRL + C while
Maestro displays the 1-line browse screen.
- Note: Pressing CTRL + C stops Maestro from counting
the number of listings that match your search criteria.
When you press CTRL + C while Maestro displays the 1-line browse screen,
PC Access will display the MAIL.TXT
error when you e-mail a listing.
If you pressed CTRL + C when Maestro displayed the 1-line browse screen,
exit and re-run your search. Do not press CTRL + C again. When Maestro finishes
displaying the 1-line browse screen, try to e-mail a listing using PC Access.
If you continue to receive the MAIL.TXT error, complete the
PC Access for Windows Problem Report Form and MFM Technical Support will assist
you.
