SMTP Mail Server Errors

If your ISP requires SMTP authentication to send e-mail, PC Access® may display
one of the following error messages when you try to send an e-mail message:
Error
Error 553 To send mail, first check your mail with a
valid POP account; this prevents unauthorized SPAM
relaying. (#5.7.1) Sending E-Mail.
Do you wish to try to send these messages later?
Clicking 'No' will discard the unsent messages.
Error
Error 451 timeout (#4.4.2) Sending E-Mail
Error
Error 503 one MAIL per message (#5.5.1) Sending E-Mail.
Do you wish to send these messages later?
Clicking 'No' will discard the unsent messages.
You can correct any one of the above error messages by downloading and installing
a new version of PCAPLUS.EXE. For more information and instructions, see:
Downloading PCAPLUS.EXE.
If your ISP's SMTP mail server requires SMTP authentication to send e-mail,
you will need to download and install an updated version of PCAPLUS.EXE.
The updated version will allow you to send e-mail using PC Access for Windows.
Follow the instructions below to download an updated version of PCAPLUS.EXE.
- The updated version of PCAPLUS.EXE works with PC Access® for Windows
version 4.30.158.
- If you are currently using Build 158, click here to
proceed to step 2.
- If you are not using Build 158, use the
Update Wizard to download and
apply the Build 158 update. After you download and install the Build 158
update, return to this page and follow the instructions in Step 2.
- Download and save the WinZip self-extracting file:
pcaplus_u.exe
to a directory on your hard disk, for example C:\DOWNLOAD.
The
pcaplus_u.exe file size is 656kb.

After you download pcaplus_u.exe:
- Windows 95/98 users: click Start |
Programs | Windows Explorer.
- Windows NT 4.0 users: click Start |
Programs | NT Explorer.
- Windows ME users: click Start |
Programs | Accessories | Windows Explorer.
- Windows 2000 users: click Start |
Programs | Accessories | Windows Explorer.
- Windows XP users: click Start |
Programs or All Programs | Accessories
| Windows Explorer.
- Go to the C:\DOWNLOAD folder (or the folder where you
saved the pcaplus_u.exe file).
Double-click on pcaplus_u.exe.
- A WinZip self-extractor window will appear defaulting
to the C:\PCAWIN executable directory.

If you accepted the defaults when you installed PC Access for Windows,
your executable directory is C:\PCAWIN.
(If you installed PC Access to a different directory, substitute that directory in the
Unzip to folder field).
- Click Unzip to unzip the pcaplus_u.exe
files to your PC Access executable directory.
- A WinZip Self-Extractor window will display this message:
"2 file(s) unzipped successfully". Click OK to close this window.
Click Close to exit WinZip.

After you install the PCAPLUS.EXE update, run PC Access for Windows.
- From the PC Access for Windows Main Menu, click E-mail |
Setup.
- On the E-mail Setup window, enter your login information in
the My Mail Username and My Mail Password
fields.
Note: contact your ISP to obtain your login information for SMTP mail
server authentication logins.
