The Installshield 106
Component Move Data Error occurs during the installation of
PC Access for Windows. There are
several possible causes of this error:
- The diskette drive may be out of alignment
- The diskette drive may need to be cleaned
- The diskette may contain bad sectors
- A virus may have infected the disk

Norton CleanSweep may be monitoring the Installation of PC Access
There are several possible ways to correct an InstallShield 106 Error
- Insert the PC Access disk that caused the Installshield 106 error,
in the diskette drive.
- Click Start | Programs | Accessories
| System Tools | ScanDisk.
- Select the following options:
Select the drive(s) you want to check for errors:
Type of Test:
- Click Start.
ScanDisk will check the PC Access disk for error.
If ScanDisk does not report any errors on the PC Access disk,
try installing PC Access from the Hard Disk.
If ScanDisk reports an error(s) on the PC Access disk, click here
to download a replacement disk.
If you have Norton Utilities
installed, you may also have
Norton CleanSweep
installed. During the installation of PC Access,
Norton CleanSweep may
prompt you to monitor the installation process.
You do not want
Norton CleanSweep to monitor the installation of PC Access.
If
Norton CleanSweep does monitor the installation of PC Access
any one of the following may occur:
- Your computer may lockup
- The InstallShield error can occur on any one of your PC Access disks
- Norton Cleansweep may damage any one of your PC Access disks
may be damaged.
- Click Start |
Programs | MS-DOS Prompt.
- At the MS-DOS Prompt window, type the following commands:
CD\
MD C:\PCATEMP
CD\PCATEMP
- Insert your
PC Access disk 1 in your diskette drive. Type the following commands:
XCOPY A:\*.* C:\PCATEMP
This will copy the contents of disk 1 to the PCATEMP
directory on your hard disk.
Note: If any errors occur while copying the files to the
PCATEMP directory, try typing the command
in step 3 again. If the errors continue, run scandisk on the disk.
- Insert your PC Access disk 2 in your diskette drive and type the command in step 3.
Follow this procedure for all 4 or 5 (depending upon your version of PC Access)
disks.
- When you finish copying the disks to the
PCATEMP
directory on your hard disk, type:
EXIT
to close the MS-DOS Prompt window and return to Windows.
- To install PC Access from the
PCATEMP
directory on your hard disk, click Start |
Run.
- In the Run window, next to Open: type the following
command:
C:\PCATEMP\SETUP.EXE
- Follow the instructions on your screen to install PC Access.
SETUP.EXE installs
the program files, you will need to
install your User Authorization.
- On the Installing PC Access User Authorization window, make sure
that
A:\ appears below the
Insert Disk #1 in: field.
- Insert
PC Access disk 1 in your diskette drive, click OK.
Follow the instructions on your screen to Install your User Authorization.
You may find this method more convenient than Installing PC Access from the Hard Disk.
To download replacement disks, select your PC Access version from the list below.
