You should rarely need to uninstall and reinstall PC Access to correct a problem.
You can solve most problems in PC Access by changing your
Setup Menu options. However, some problems may require you
to uninstall and reinstall PC Access. These usually involve
excessive file corruption on your hard disk and/or other abnormalities
that may cause PC Access to stop working properly.
If you are experiencing a problem with PC Access for Windows, and you have not
contacted MFM Technical Support, please complete a Problem Report Form
before you uninstall and/or reinstall PC Access. Otherwise, Windows 95, 98, or NT users, see:

- Click
Start |
Programs | PC Access for Windows |
Back Up PCAWin Setup.
- On the Back Up PC Access for Windows Setup Files window:
- Insert your
original PC Access Disk 1 into the diskette drive.
- Items in the Items to Back Up box should have a
check mark next to them.
- Click Back Up.
- When the backup is complete, click OK on the
Information window.
- There are two ways to uninstall PC Access for Windows. If you are running
version 4.30.155 or earlier, see
Uninstall Option 1. If you are running version 4.30.158 or later,
see
Uninstall Option 2.
- Click

Programs | PC Access for Windows |
Uninstall PC Access.
- On the Confirm File Deletion window, click Yes.
This will remove most of the PC Access files.
- Click Start | Settings |
Taskbar & Start Menu or Taskbar....
- In the Taskbar Properties window, click the
Start Menu Programs tab. Click
Remove.
- Click the PC Access for Windows program group
then click Remove.
- On the Confirm Folder Delete window, click
Yes. Continue with step 6.
- To remove the remaining files associated with PC Access:
Windows 95 or 98 users: Click

Windows NT users: Click

In the MS-DOS window type the following commands:
CD \
DEL C:\WINDOWS\PCAWIN.INI
DEL C:\WINDOWS\D2HNAV16.EXE
DEL C:\WINDOWS\D2HNAV16.HLP
DEL C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\BC520RTL.DLL
DEL C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\BDS52.DLL
DEL C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\OWL52.DLL
DEL C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\BIVBX31.DLL
DEL C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\BIVBX11.DLL
DEL C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MSOUTLIN.VBX
DEL C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\D2HLNK16.DLL
DEL C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\D2HTOOLS.DLL
When you finish removing the above files:
Windows 95 and 98 users: type the command below to remove the
PCAWIN directory.
Note: The commands below assume
- Your PC Access executable directory is C:\PCAWIN
DELTREE /Y C:\PCAWIN
Windows NT users: type the command below to remove the
PCAWIN directory.
Note: The commands below assume:
- Your PC Access executable directory is C:\PCAWIN
RD /S /Q C:\PCAWIN
When you finish removing the PCAWIN directory
type:
EXIT
To close the MS-DOS window and return to Windows.
- To reinstall PC Access for Windows see: Reinstall PC Access.
- Click Start |

Back Up PCAWin Setup.
- On the Back Up PC Access for Windows Setup Files window:
- Insert your original PC Access Disk 1 into the diskette drive.
- Items in the Items to Back Up box should have a
check mark next to them.
- Click Back Up.
- When the backup is complete, click OK on the
Information window.
- There are two ways to uninstall PC Access for Windows. If you are running
version 4.30.155 or earlier, see
Uninstall Option 1. If you are running version 4.30.158 or later,
see
Uninstall Option 2.
- Click Start |
Programs | PC Access for Windows |
Uninstall PC Access.
- On the Confirm File Deletion window, click Yes.
This will remove most of the PC Access files.
- Click Start | Settings |
Taskbar and Start Menu Properties.
- On the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties window,
click the Advanced tab.
- Click Remove and highlight the PC Access for
Windows program group.
- When you finish removing the PC Access for Windows Program Group,
continue with step 5.
- To remove the remaining files associated with PC Access,
click Start | Programs |
Accessories | Command Prompt.
- In the Command Prompt window type the following commands:

DEL C:\WINNT\D2HNAV16.EXE
DEL C:\WINNT\D2HNAV16.HLP
DEL C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\BC520RTL.DLL

DEL C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\BDS52.DLL
DEL C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\OWL52.DLL

DEL C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\BIVBX31.DLL

When you finish removing the above files, type the command below to remove the
PCAWIN directory.
Note: The commands below assume
- Your PC Access executable directory is C:\PCAWIN
RD /S /Q C:\PCAWIN
When you finish removing the PCAWIN directory
type:
EXIT
To close the Command Prompt window and return to Windows.
- To reinstall PC Access for Windows see: Reinstall PC Access.
- Insert your PC Access
Disk 1 into the diskette drive.
- Click Start | Run.
- In the Run dialog box, type:
A:\SETUP.EXE
and click OK. If you are installing
PC Access from the CD-ROM, substitute A: with the letter of your CD-ROM
drive.
- Follow the instructions on your screen to install PC Access.
- PC Access will prompt you to restore your PC Access setup information. Click
Yes.
- The
User Auth Manager will display the following prompt:
I have detected some previously installed User Authorizations
that are backed up on this Disk #1.
Would you like to see if any of them were created on this PC?
Click "No" if you know this is the first time you're installing
on this PC.
- Click Yes to restore your backed up PC Access user authorization to the PC
Access executable directory. If you restore your user authorization PC Access
will not use another install count.
