If you are using an Agent or Broker version of PC Access and you are experiencing this error, see: Error 8001-0009-0006 Agent and Broker Versions.

How to Correct Error 8001-0009-0006

  1. Insert your PC Access Disk 1 into your 3.5" disk drive. Make sure the serial number on Disk 1 matches the serial number on the PC Access for Windows Main Menu. If you cannot find your original PC Access Disk 1, do not continue with these instructions. You cannot substitute your original Network version Disk 1 with another PC Access Disk 1.
  2. Exit PC Access on all of your workstations. Restart Windows on the workstation(s) that use PC Access.
    • Note: you need to restart Windows on your workstations to break the Windows file locks to the server. If you do not restart a workstation that ran PC Access, you may be unable to uninstall your User Authorization.
  3. At a workstation on your network, insert Disk 1 into the computer's 3.5" disk drive.
  4. Click Start | Programs | PC Access for Windows | User Auth Manager.
    • Note: if the User Auth Manager shortcut does not exist in the PC Access for Windows program group, you can manually run the User Auth Manager. To manually run the User Auth Manager, click Start | Run. In the Open field, type the following command:
      PC Access 4.30 users:
      X:\PCAWIN\PCAWINUA.EXE /PCAW430
      PC Access 4.20 users:
      X:\PCAWIN\PCAWINUA.EXE /PCAW410
Click OK. You can substitute X: for the mapped drive letter where PC Access exists on your network.
  5. On the User Authorization Manager window, click Uninstall. This will uninstall the User Authorization from the PC Access executable directory back to Disk 1.
    • Note: if the Uninstall button is gray (unselectable), you can use one of the following methods to unistall your user authorization:
      1. To make the Uninstall button available, edit the PCAWIN.INI file in your PC Access executable directory. In the [Setup] section of the PCAWIN.INI file, add or change Uninstallable=0 to Uninstallable=1. This change will make the Uninstall button available. %WINDIR%\PCAWIN.INI
        [Setup]
        Uninstallable=1
      2. manually uninstall the PC Access for Windows User Authorization. Click Start | MS-DOS Prompt or Command Prompt. Type the following commands in the MS-DOS Prompt or Command Prompt window:
        PC Access 4.30 users:
        X:
        CD \PCAWIN
        SCMOVE R X: A: PCAW430 /E /V /N
        PC Access 4.20 users:
        X:
        CD \PCAWIN
        SCMOVE R X: A: PCAW410 /E /V /N
You can substitute X: for the letter of the mapped network drive where you installed PC Access on the server. If you are unable to manually uninstall your User Authorization, you need to delete your User Authorization. After you delete your User Authorization, you need to request an additional install count from MFM. To delete your User Authorization and request an install count, see: Deleting your User Authorization.
  6. Remove Disk 1 from the 3.5" disk drive.
  7. On the computer that experiences the User Authorization Error 8001-0009-0006, click Start | Programs | PC Access for Windows | User Auth Manager.
  8. On the User Authorization Manager window, click Install. This will install the PC Access configuration files and User Authorization.
    • Note: if you are installing your User Authorization to correct the User Authorization Error 8001-0009-0006, you do not need to re-install your PC Access configuration files. Reinstalling your PC Access configuration files will overwrite your existing files.
If the User Authorization Manager displays an error while installing the PC Access for Windows User Authorization to the network drive, you can manually install your User Authorization. Use the instructions below to manually install your User Authorization. Click Start | MS-DOS Prompt or Command Prompt. Type the following commands in the MS-DOS Prompt or Command Prompt window:
    PC Access 4.30 users:
    X:
    CD \PCAWIN
    SCMOVE I A: X: PCAW430 /E /V /N
    PC Access 4.20 users:
    X:
    CD \PCAWIN
    SCMOVE I A: X: PCAW410 /E /V /N
If you experience difficulty installing your User Authorization, complete the User Authorization Problem Report Form.

Deleting your User Authorization

If you are unable to uninstall your User Authorization, follow these instructions to delete your User Authorization and request an additional install count.
  1. Click Start | MS-DOS Prompt or Command Prompt. Type the following commands in the MS-DOS Prompt or Command Prompt window:
    PC Access 4.30 users:
    X:
    CD \PCAWIN
    ATTRIB -S -H PCAW430.*
    DEL PCAW430.*
    PC Access 4.20 users:
    X:
    CD \PCAWIN
    ATTRIB -S -H PCAW410.*
    DEL PCAW410.*
    • Note: if you installed PC Access to a drive other than X, substitute X with that drive letter in the above command. Also, the above numbers are zeros 0, not the letter O.
  2. When you finish deleting your User Authorization, you need to request an additional install count from MFM. To request an install count, complete the User Authorization Problem Report form:
  3. After you receive your install count, continue with Step 6 in How to Correct Error 8001-0009-0006.
