How to Manually Install the User Authorization

If you are unable to use the User Authorization Manager (UAM)
to install your PC Access® User Authorization, you can manually install
your User Authorization.

- Open an MS-DOS Prompt window:
- Windows 95/98: click Start | Programs | MS-DOS Prompt
- Windows NT 4.0: click Start | Programs | Command Prompt
- Windows ME: click Start | Programs | Accessories |MS-DOS Prompt
- Windows 2000: click Start | Programs | Accessories |Command Prompt
- Windows XP: click Start | Programs or All Programs | Accessories |Command Prompt
- Insert your PC Access for Windows Disk 1 into the
computer's disk drive.
- Type the following commands in the MS-DOS Prompt window:
PC Access 4.10/4.20 users
C:
CD \PCAWIN
SCMOVE I A: C: PCAW410 /E /V
PC Access 4.30 users
C:
CD \PCAWIN
SCMOVE I A: C: PCAW430 /E /V
If SCMOVE.EXE does not exist in the PC Access executable
directory (C:\PCAWIN), copy the SCMOVE.EXE file from
the PC Access 4.30 CD-ROM to C:\PCAWIN.
If your PC Access 4.30 serial number starts with 4365, you can
find the SCMOVE.EXE file in the \PCAFILES\PROGDIR
directory on the PC Access CD-ROM. If your PC Access serial
number starts with 4305, you can find the SCMOVE.EXE file
in the \SETUP on the PC Access CD-ROM.
- Note: if you are installing the user authorization for a
Network version, substitute A: in the above command. You can
substitute A: with the letter of the mapped network drive
where you installed PC Access on your server.
- After you manually install your User Authorization, the UAM displays
Complete.
- Remove your PC Access for Windows Disk 1 from the
computer's disk drive.
- Click Start | Programs |
PC Access for Windows | PC Access for Windows.
- If you are able to run PC Access, MFM recommends you back up your settings.
To back up your settings, click Start |
Programs | Back Up PCAWin Setup |
Back Up PCAWin Setup.
- In the Back Up PC Access for Windows Setup Files window,
click Back Up. Follow the instructions to back up your
settings and User Authorization to Disk 1.
- If you are unable to run PC Access, write down any error you receive and
complete the
User Authorization Problem Report form.
