The User Authorization 8001-0009-0000 error can occur when any
of the following are true:
- The User Authorization is not installed on the hard drive and/or there are no
remaining install counts on PC Access disk 1.
- Your PCAWIN.INI file specifies an incorrect
PCAWinPath.
- PC Access cannot read the User Authorization from disk 1.
The following problems can cause this:
- A bad disk 1
- Virus infection
- An anti-virus program running while PC Access is trying to install the User Authorization
If this is the first time you are installing PC Access,
see:
Correcting a User Authorization Error During Installation.
If this is not your first installation of PC Access,
see:
Correcting a User Authorization Error.
The User Authorization 8001-0009-0003 error can occur when:

and your copy of PC Access uses the machine tie method of user authorization.
To correct your User Authorization

Correcting a User Authorization Error
Part 1: Using an Install Count or Requesting a Reset Code
- Click Start | Programs |
PC Access for Windows | User Auth Manager.
- In the User Authorization Manager window, click Info.
- Insert your PC Access disk 1 in your diskette drive. Click OK
to continue.
- In the User Authorization and License Information window, look next to
Install Counts Remaining:
- If the number of remaining Install Counts is greater
than zero, click OK to close the
User Authorization and License Information window. Click Install
on the User Authorization Manager window.
Follow the instructions on your screen to install your User Authorization.
This should enable your copy of PC Access to run
correctly and you do not need to complete steps 5--8 below.
- If the Install Counts Remaining is zero, click OK
to close the User Authorization and License Information window.
Click Reset on the User Authorization Manager window.
Click OK to confirm that you want to reset your User Authorization.
You will see a serial number and a validation
code in the Reset User Authorization window. Proceed to
Part 2: Sending your Serial Number and Validation Code to MFM
- Note: do not close the Reset User Authorization
window until you have entered the reset code from MFM. If you close the
Reset User Authorization window you risk invalidating the reset
code, and you may have to repeat this procedure.
Part 2: Sending your Serial Number and Validation Code to MFM
- To obtain a reset code, complete the
User Authorization Problem Report Form.
MFM Technical Support will e-mail you a reset code.
- When you receive your reset code, proceed to
Entering your Reset Code from MFM
Part 3: Entering your Reset Code from MFM
- Before you enter the Reset Code, make sure
the Serial Number and Validation Code in the
Reset User Authorization window are the same
Serial Number and Validation Code you
entered on the User Authorization Problem Report form.
- Note: if the Serial Number and/or
Validation Code do not match what you sent to
MFM, you will need to send
MFM Technical Support the new Serial Number and
Validation Code. To contact MFM, send an e-mail
message to
mfm-techsupport@mfm.com.
MFM generates the Reset Code based on the
Serial Number and Validation Code.
If either of these numbers change, the Reset Code MFM
issued to you is no longer valid. If you enter a Reset Code
that does not match the Serial Number and
Validation Code you sent to MFM,
you risk permanently disabling the user authorization on
your PC Access Disk 1.
- If the Serial Number and Validation Code
in the Reset User Authorization window are the same
Serial Number and Validation Code you
sent to MFM, enter the Reset Code in the
Reset Code field on the Reset User Authorization
window. Click OK to reset your User Authorization.
- Note: you may want to copy the Reset Code
from the e-mail message MFM sent you and paste it into the
Reset Code field on the
Reset User Authorization window.
- After you click OK, you will
see this message: User Authorization successfully
reset! Click OK to continue.
- Resetting your User Authorization only resets
the User Authorization for an additional Install Count
on your PC Access Disk 1. Before you can run
PC Access, you need to install your User Authorization.
- On the User Authorization Manager window
click Install. This will install your User Authorization
from Disk 1 to the PC Access executable directory.
Follow the instructions on your screen to install your User Authorization.
For additional information see:
PC Access for Windows License Restriction
When you install the PC Access for Windows user authorization
the User Authorization Manager automatically backs
up the user authorization to the A:\EKB_BKUP directory on
Disk 1. This allows you to restore your user authorization file if
you lost the copy you previously installed on your hard disk.
You can lose the copy on your hard disk by replacing or
formatting your hard disk. By restoring your original user authorization,
you do not need to use an additional install count or request
a user authorization reset from MFM Technical Support.
In addition, if you
backed up your PC Access setup files, you can use the
User Authorization Manager to restore your original user authorization
However, If you upgraded your computer's
system board, CPU, and/or BIOS, you cannot restore your user
authorization. Instead, you need to use an install count or request
a user authorization from MFM Technical Support.
For more information, see: Correcting a User Authorization Error.
- Note: You can only restore your user authorization if your copy of PC Access uses the
machine tie method of user authorization. For more information on the
machine tie method, see:
User Authorization: Machine Tie Method
-
Note: If you use PC Access version 4.10.107
(Build 107) and your
serial number falls between the range of 410300134 - 410303250, the User Auth Manager
will not restore your user authorization. The User Auth Manager
in the above range of serial numbers had a problem that prevented the
User Auth Manager from backing up your user authorization.
- Insert your PC Access Disk 1 into your diskette drive.
- Click Start | Programs |
PC Access for Windows | User Auth Manager.
- In the User Authorization Manager window, click Install.
- If the User Authorization Manager displays the
Installing Configuration Files prompt, click
OK to install the PC Access configuration
files.
- Click OK on the Installing PC Access 4.30 User
Authorization prompt.
- Click Yes to reload your User Authorization.
For additional information see:
PC Access for Windows License Restriction
