Introduction

The User Authorization 8001-0009-0004 error occurs in PC Access Network versions 4.20 and 4.30. If you need to determine what version of PC Access you are using see: How to Determine your PC Access Version and Build Number.

The User Authorization 8001-0009-0004 error can occur when you use Novell's Application Launcher to start PC Access for Windows. The Novell Application Launcher tries to control the number of network users that can run a particular application. This causes PC Access to display the User Authorization 8001-0009-0004 error.

Correcting User Authorization Error 8001-0009-0004

To correct a User Authorization Error 8001-0009-0004, do not use the Novell Application Launcher to start PC Access for Windows. Instead, Windows 95, 98, and NT users should start PC Access for Windows by one of these methods:

Click Start | Programs | PC Access for Windows | PC Access for Windows
Run PC Access from a Desktop shortcut

In addition, you may be able to use Novell's Application Launcher to start PC Access 4.30 Broker versions. To try this option, you need to install PC Access 4.30 Broker versions on the individual workstations. If you experience problems using Novell's Application Launcher to start your PC Access 4.30 Broker versions, you need to start PC Access using one of the above methods.

Note: MFM does not support PC Access for Windows with third-party programs, such as Novell Application Launcher.
