[Introduction] [Exceed Netlimit] [Corrupted Netlimit Files] [Related Information]

Introduction

The User Authorization 8101-0009-0002 error occurs in PC Access® Network versions. This error occurs when one of the following conditions are true:

  • you exceeded the netlimit on your Network version of PC Access for Windows
  • PC Access did not install the netlimit files correctly
  • you have corrupted netlimit files on your server
  • Note: netlimit refers to the number of install counts you purchased. Network versions normally come with five or twenty install counts. This means you can simultaneously run PC Access on five or twenty different computers.
If you think you may have exceeded the netlimit on your Network version of PC Access, see: Exceed Netlimit. If you think PC Access did not install the netlimit files correctly or if you have corrupted netlimit files on your server, see: Corrupted Netlimit Files.

Exceed Netlimit

If you exceeded the netlimit on your Network version of PC Access, you can do one of the following:
  • do not exceed the netlimit. This means, you can only run PC Access on the number of computers you purchased a license for. For example, if you purchased a PC Access network version with five install counts, you can only run PC Access on five computers.
  • you can increase your netlimit by purchasing additional install counts. For more information, contact MFM Technical Support.

Corrupted Netlimit Files

If you think PC Access did not install the netlimit files correctly or if the netlimit files may be corrupted, follow the instructions below.
  1. Exit PC Access for Windows on all workstations.
  2. On a workstation open an MS-DOS Prompt window:
    • Windows 95/98: click Start | Programs | MS-DOS Prompt
    • Windows NT 4.0: click Start | Programs | Command Prompt
    • Windows ME: click Start | Programs | Accessories |MS-DOS Prompt
    • Windows 2000: click Start | Programs | Accessories |Command Prompt
    • Windows XP: click Start | Programs or All Programs | Accessories |Command Prompt
    • Note: if any of your workstations run Windows 95, Windows 98/98SE, or Windows ME, you need to restart Windows before you access the MS-DOS prompt. These versions of Windows may lock files on the server that can cause problems when you use the commands below to remove the user authorization and netlimit files.
  3. From the DOS prompt, type the following commands to remove the user authorization and netlimit files:
      X:
      CD \PCAWIN
      ATTRIB -S -H PCAW430.*
      DEL PCAW430.*

    • Note: if you installed PC Access to a drive other than X, substitute X with that drive letter in the above command. Also, the above numbers are zeros 0, not the letter O.
  4. To request an additional install count, complete the User Authorization Problem Report.
