When you install PC Access® for Windows the
User Authorization Manager (UAM) installs your User Authorization.
If the UAM is unable to install your User Authorization, you
can use SCMOVE.EXE to "force" the installation of your User
Authorization.
Some of the earlier versions of PC Access 4.30 did not install SCMOVE.EXE
into the PC Access executable directory (PCAWIN).
If your copy of PC Access is in one of the following serial number ranges:
- 436500001 through 436500859
(excluding serial number range: 436500828 through 436500830)
You will need to copy SCMOVE.EXE to your PC Access executable
directory. For instructions, see:

If you are using the PC Access CD-ROM and Disk 1, you can find
SCMOVE.EXE on the CD-ROM. See: Copy SCMOVE.EXE from CD-ROM.
If you are using PC Access disks, you can find SCMOVE.EXE on
Disk 1. See: Copy SCMOVE.EXE from Disk 1.
Note: if your copy of PC Access uses serial number 436500860 or later,
you can find SCMOVE.EXE on the PC Access 4.30.158 Disk 1.
You can use the MS-DOS Prompt window or Windows Explorer
to copy SCMOVE.EXE from the CD-ROM to your PC Access executable directory.
Copy via MS-DOS Prompt
- Open an MS-DOS Prompt window:
- Windows 95/98: click Start | Programs | MS-DOS Prompt
- Windows NT 4.0: click Start | Programs | Command Prompt
- Windows ME: click Start | Programs | Accessories |MS-DOS Prompt
- Windows 2000: click Start | Programs | Accessories |Command Prompt
- Windows XP: click Start | Programs or All Programs | Accessories |Command Prompt
- Insert your PC Access for Windows CD-ROM into the computer's CD-ROM drive.
- Type the following command in the MS-DOS Prompt window:
COPY X:\PCAFILES\PRODIR\SCMOVE.EXE C:\PCAWIN
Substitute X with the drive letter for your CD-ROM.
- Close the MS-DOS Prompt window.
Copy via Windows Explorer
- Open Windows Explorer:
- Windows 95/98: click Start | Programs | Windows Explorer
- Windows NT 4.0: click Start | Programs | NT Explorer
- Windows ME: click Start | Programs | Accessories |Windows Explorer
- Windows 2000: click Start | Programs | Accessories |Windows Explorer
- Windows XP: click Start | Programs or All Programs | Accessories |Windows Explorer
- Insert your PC Access for Windows CD-ROM into the computer's CD-ROM drive.
- In Windows Explorer, navigate to the \PCAFILES\PRODIR
directory on your PC Access CD-ROM.

Find SCMOVE.EXE in the \PCAFILES\PRODIR directory.
Note: by default, Windows hides file extensions. If you are having
trouble finding SCMOVE.EXE, you may want to unhide the
file extensions. You can do so by following these
instructions:
- Windows 98/98SE users: in
Windows Explorer click View
| Folder Options. Click the View
tab in the Folder Options window. In
Advanced Settings unselect the
following option:
[ ] Hide extensions for known file types
Click OK to close the Folder Options
window.
- Windows Me, Windows 2000, or Windows XP users: in
Windows Explorer click Tools |
Folder Options. Click the View
tab in the Folder Options window. In
Advanced Settings unselect the following option:
[ ] Hide extensions for known file types
Click OK to close the Folder Options
window.
- Right-click on SCMOVE.EXE. Click Copy.

In Windows Explorer navigate to the PC Access
executable directory, by default this is C:\PCAWIN.
Right-click in the PCAWIN directory and click
Paste. This will copy SCMOVE.EXE
to the C:\PCAWIN directory.
You can use the MS-DOS Prompt window or Windows Explorer
to copy SCMOVE.EXE from Disk 1 to your PC Access executable directory.
Copy via MS-DOS Prompt
- Open an MS-DOS Prompt window:
- Windows 95/98: click Start | Programs | MS-DOS Prompt
- Windows NT 4.0: click Start | Programs | Command Prompt
- Windows ME: click Start | Programs | Accessories |MS-DOS Prompt

- Insert your PC Access for Windows Disk 1 into the
computer's floppy disk drive.
- Type the following command in the MS-DOS Prompt window:
COPY A:\SCMOVE.EXE C:\PCAWIN
- Close the MS-DOS Prompt window.
Copy via Windows Explorer
- Open Windows Explorer:
- Windows 95/98: click Start | Programs | Windows Explorer
- Windows NT 4.0: click Start | Programs | NT Explorer
- Windows ME: click Start | Programs | Accessories |Windows Explorer
- Windows 2000: click Start | Programs | Accessories |Windows Explorer
- Windows XP: click Start | Programs or All Programs | Accessories |Windows Explorer
- Insert your PC Access for Windows Disk 1 into the
computer's floppy disk drive.
- In Windows Explorer, navigate to your floppy disk drive,
this is usually A:.

Find SCMOVE.EXE on Disk 1.

In Windows Explorer navigate to the PC Access
executable directory, by default this is C:\PCAWIN.
Right-click in the PCAWIN directory and click
Paste. This will copy SCMOVE.EXE
to the C:\PCAWIN directory.
If you prefer to download SCMOVE.EXE to your PC Access executable directory,
follow the instructions below.
- Click the following URL to download SCMOVE.EXE
from the MFM Support Web site:
- Save SCMOVE.EXE to the PC Access executable directory.
By default the executable directory is C:\PCAWIN.
