User Authorization Error in Windows XP

Quick Contents

[Introduction] [User Authorization Error] [Related Information]

Introduction

If you are running Windows XP and you attempt to install PC Access for Windows 4.20 or 4.30 into a directory name that is longer than eight characters, you will not be able to install your User Authorization.

Windows XP does not support 16-bit programs that use long directory names. Since PC Access for Windows is a 16-bit program, you will not be able to install it in a directory such as, C:\Program Files.

If you are running Windows XP, MFM recommends that you install PC Access for Windows into its default directory C:\PCAWIN. When you install PC Access for Windows into its default directory, you will be able to install all of the program files and your User Authorization.

  • Note: MFM Technical Support does not support PC Access for Windows if you installed it into a long directory name.
If you were able to install the PC Access for Windows program files into a directory that has a name longer than eight characters, the User Authorization Manager will not be able to install your User Authorization. For more information, see: User Authorization Error.

           User Authorization files.

           << OK >> << Help >>
If you click OK on this warning message, the User Authorization Manager will display this error:
  Error
           Error #3
The User Auth check failed on drive "A:\"

Make sure you have the factory ORIGINAL
PC Access 4.30 Disk #1 in the floppy drive.

You must use your factory original Disk #1.

           << Cancel >> << Retry >> << Help >>
To correct the above User Authorization error, you need to install PC Access for Windows into its default directory, C:\PCAWIN, or into a directory with a name that does not exceed eight characters.
